Refinishing Project

Refinishing of a Mid-century office chair. This 1940’s to 1950’s commercial office chair was purchased by our customer who wanted to use it in his home office. The chair was remarkably well made and did not need any regluing – all of the joints were solid. The wood was refinished using the same shade of stain as the original and a satin finish was used to blend in with the other pieces in the home office. Our customer is now enjoying his like new chair while running his home business.
Reupholstery Project
A surprise father's day present. This chair had extensive water damage. It was our customer’s grandmother’s and she wanted to give it to her husband as a surprise. The chair was beautiful and was made of solid mahogany. The water damage had caused the chair to become moldy and it had to be stripped to the bare frame and sanitized. A complete overhaul was needed. The frame was taken apart and reglued. The chair was old and made for shorter people in an earlier time. We added 2 ½ inches to the legs to make it more comfortable to use at the dining room table. The wood was stripped and refinished. Our customer had some hand embroidered fabric that a friend had made and that she wanted to use. We used high quality foam and padding on the frame and applied the fabric over this new padding. The result was beautiful. She gave it to her surprised husband for father’s day and he now proudly uses it at the dining room table.
Repair Project
Repair and refinishing of an old spindle back chair. This customer had purchased this period piece and wanted to use it in their home. The frame was well made but the joints were coming loose. The chair was completely taken apart. Since new glue doesn’t stick well to old glue, the old glue was removed from the joints, and new high strength glue was used. The chair was clamped, while the glue dried, and the wood was then refinished. This chair now occupies a proud place in our customer’s kitchen.
